Jerry featured on Tommy Emmanuel’s new album

I am thrilled to join Tommy Emmanuel for his US Guitar Camp in Memphis, TN on July 23-27, 2018 at the Peabody Hotel. This is going to be really fun event with me, Pat Bergeson, Jack Pearson, Mike Seal, and Steve Cropper as guest instructors. At these camps, everything is provided for you (accommodations, meals, etc.), and it features workshops during the day and shows at night with Tommy and all the guest instructors. I’ve heard Tommy’s camps are a blast, and I can’t wait to be a part of one.
You can find more information and register for the camps here: https://

Jerry Douglas is one of the few masters of the Dobro guitar alive today and he knows how to make it ‘sing.’. He has performed on over 1600 albums of many different genre of music since he started playing professionally at the age of 14. His first major gig was with the Country Gentlemen in 1973. Jerry has performed with some of the most famous entertainers in the world from Ray Charles, Paul Simon, Sting, Eric Clapton, Dolly Parton, Phish, Ricky Scaggs, Elvis Costello, James Taylor, and Johnny Mathis to name a few. AXS was able to do a telephone interview with Jerry and here are the highlights.

“Cavebop”–off the new The Jerry Douglas Band album (out August 18th, preorder: http://found.ee/JDStore). “…a ‘Flintstones’ rumble, with Fred in the driver’s seat and Charlie Parker as his passenger.”
“The Wild Rumpus”–When my daughters were small, I would read the book “Where The Wild Things Are” to them at bedtime. I later found out it’s not a bedtime story. I invited the author Maurice Sendak to my shows whenever I was in his town. He never came. Therapy is ongoing.
“Takarasaka”–I wrote Takarazaka after a tour in Japan a few years ago. I was invited to stay at a friends house in the city of the same name. My friend explained to me that the origin of the name could be used either for beautiful mountain village, or Village idiot. I prefer the former.
